According to data from CoinGlass, over the past 24 hours, more than $1.2 billion in cryptocurrency has been liquidated. The majority of these liquidations (approximately $1.07 billion) came from long positions. The largest single liquidation occurred on Binance, where one trader lost nearly $16 million.
Earlier today, Bitcoin dropped to an intraday low of $96,682, marking a nearly 7% loss in just 24 hours. Major altcoins are experiencing even steeper declines. XRP, the token associated with Ripple, plummeted by as much as 10%, while Dogecoin (DOGE) and Cardano (ADA) recorded double-digit losses, falling by 19.4% and 15.7%, respectively.
The crypto market turned bearish after the U.S. Federal Reserve hinted at reducing its monetary easing in 2025. Only two more rate cuts are expected next year, a major setback for risk assets.
Meanwhile, U.S. stocks are struggling, with the Dow recently experiencing its longest losing streak in 50 years, since 1974.
